We were pleasantly surprised by the value we got for our money at the Colliery Cottage in Durham. The room was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and felt just like a home away from home. The location was great, with a dog walk just across the road, and it was only a short journey to Durham university. The staff, especially Clare the host, were incredibly welcoming and even put up Christmas decorations and a tree in the cottage. It was the perfect cozy and comfortable stay.

The breakfast offerings could have been improved with a wider variety of choices.

Upon arrival at Colliery Cottage, we were greeted with a warm welcome and a delightful surprise - biscuits, snacks, and milk left for us by the host. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The beds were incredibly comfy, ensuring a good night's sleep. We also loved the folder with old photos and history of the nearby brickworks, adding a touch of local charm. The cottage is located in a lovely village, providing a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. We particularly enjoyed the dog walk right opposite the cottage, perfect for our furry friend. Although the walls seemed a bit thin, it didn't bother us too much. The only slight downside was the limited bus service, which made it challenging to visit Durham town center. However, we made the most of our stay, venturing to the local pub and enjoying the tranquility of the village. we had an excellent experience at Colliery Cottage and would highly recommend it to others.

The cottage exceeded my expectations in terms of space and amenities. It was clean, stylish, and well-decorated. The kitchen was fully equipped with crockery and cutlery, and there were even little treats waiting for us. The owner was incredibly welcoming and generous, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. The location was also fantastic, nestled at the bottom of scenic hills.

My stay was too short. I wish I had more time to fully enjoy the exceptional accommodation and the hospitality of the host.

the location was ideal, with a peaceful rural setting and easy access to interesting places nearby. the hosts were incredibly thoughtful, providing a welcome package and ensuring all our needs were met. the cottage itself was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, with hotel-quality bathroom facilities. It even had a cute little garden area overlooking fields. it was a perfect retreat.

One minor thing to note was the lack of a small nest of tables in the lounge, which would have been useful.

I recently stayed at a cozy and immaculately clean property that provided a fantastic homely experience. The owner, Clare, was wonderful and even left little treats for our stay. The accommodation had everything we needed, including a washing machine and a well-equipped kitchen. The beds were comfy, and the shower was great. The location was convenient, with a pub just a few doors down and shops a short drive away. The area was quiet and safe, making for a peaceful night's sleep. I had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend this property for its value, cleanliness, and welcoming atmosphere.

The hosts were incredibly welcoming and friendly, providing a generous welcome pack and ensuring that we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The views of the countryside from the cottage were absolutely beautiful, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. the cottage itself was warm, cosy, spacious, and impeccably clean.

The limited public transportation options in the area, which made it difficult for us to visit nearby attractions and return to the cottage in the evening. We ended up having to drive to our destinations during the day, and the cost of taxis for the evening was surprisingly high.

Exceptional - This cottage truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with thoughtful touches like biscuits, snacks, and milk. The cottage itself was immaculate and beautifully decorated, with comfortable beds and everything we needed provided by the host. The shower was unbelievably good, and the kitchen was well-appointed. The hosts were friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure our comfort during a snowstorm. The location was convenient, with a dog walk just across the road and a short journey to Durham University. our stay at Colliery Cottage was outstanding.

While there was nothing major to complain about, the location could have been more ideal for our specific plans. We had hoped to visit Durham town center during the day and return in the evening for drinks.

The cottage was spacious and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. the kitchen was well-equipped and even had a generous starter pack, which was a nice touch. the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. It was also conveniently located near Durham and other nearby villages, making it easy to explore the area.

The only issue we had was with the security light at the back of the cottage, which kept turning on and off during the night and disturbed our sleep. It would have been better if the light was more consistent and didn't cause any disruption.
